We were so looking forward to seeing Kim and Gary over Memorial Day Weekend.  But a tragic moment totally changed our plans for the holiday.  Around Pratt, KS., Gary and Kim pulled over to wait out the rain and wind of a nasty storm.  They happened to pick the wrong spot at the wrong time, and a tornado picked up their car and tossed it into a field at least 150 yards from the road.  They were both killed. 

We know they are both safely in the arms of Jesus.  But, we are so so so sad and lonely for the sister and brother we loved so much.  It will never ever be the same.  We will miss them always.

We are about to enter the summer and BBQ season. Therefore it is important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity, as it’s the only type of cooking a ‘real’ man will do, probably because there is an element of danger involved.
 
When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put
into motion:Routine…
 
(1) The woman buys the food.

(2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert.

(3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the
necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging
beside the grill - beer in hand.

Here comes the important part:

(4) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.

More routine….
 
(5) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.

(6) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning.
He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he deals with the situation.
 
Important again:

(7) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.

More routine….
 
(8) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table.
 
(9) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.
 
And most important of all:

(10) Everyone PRAISES and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts.

(11) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed ‘her night off.’ And, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there’s just no pleasing some women!!

It’s gonna be hard to get any work done today… Only damper was that gas jumped a dime this morning, making our mid-grade $4.11/gallon. Ridiculous!!!!

G had applied for another position in his company. It would have been in another division, but would have kept us here in Rocky Ford for another couple of years. It would have been a great help for us financially, but he didn’t get it. Like I told G though- that leaves us open for something better! Thanks again for all your prayers- and please keep praying that God will put us where he wants us! :-)

Even Wal-Mart was having to accept old-fashioned checks because their credit card machines weren’t working. I guess a fiber optic line got cut somewhere in the area. And this is not the first time it has happened here. Anyway- we get to Wal-Mart after work tonight, and get in line, and then hear we can’t use our debit card. Okay- so I’ll write a check. Except, hubby paid bills last night, and forgot to give me back the checkbook. So he had to drive home and get it- come back and get me at Wal-Mart so we could pay for the stuff we needed. And then by the time we got home (at almost 7p) our phones started working again. And wouldn’t you know- we missed the phone call we’d been waiting for!!! But the funny thing was- the message was left at the same time I posted my last post asking for prayers! (Who says God doesn’t have good timing? :-) ) But, now we have to wait til tomorrow now to hear about our situation. Please be praying that it is good news.

Today I am grateful for all the prayers I am about to ask for. Because even though I can not share specifics, and even though some of you don’t know me except through this blog, I KNOW you will pray for us, just beacause I am asking. And I am eternally grateful to GOD who hears those prayers, and will work everything out according to HIS will, and guide us through.

That being said- it is still difficult to not know the outcome of a situation, even though we KNOW GOD is in control.  My husband and I have had a couple of very stressful weeks, and now- when things were supposed to have been cleared up, we still don’t know what’s happening, and it is a confusing mess. Plus we got a new (although temporary) stress added to our shouders last night- and made for a very fitful rest last night.

Please pray that we will find peace in these situations, and that GOD will be there with us in the midst of whatever happens.

Monday- Stuffed Shells (using the leftover cheese mixture and spaghetti sauce from the Homemade Ravioli. (The casserole is already made, just have to bake it tonight!)

Tuesday- Taco Salad

Wednesday- Eating out ( I have a hair appointment right after work, so we’ll just stay in town and eat, go to Wed night Bible Study, then go home.)

Thursday- Burritos & green chili

Friday- we are leaving around 3p. Will probably eat some fast food in Garden City

Sat & Sun- In Kansas!!! Yipee!!! :-)

Check back later tonight (tomorrow morning at the latest) to see what I get done (after I get done with this post I’ll be working on it some more!)

But I wanted to show you what we had for dinner last night- it was declicious! I used Laura’s homemade noodle recipe to make the dough, (you’ll have to buy her e-book to get the recipe! :-) It is very yummy, all whole-wheat flour- all natural! ) and then I used my tortilla press to press out the dough to make the ravioli. It worked great! Then I filled them with a mixture of ricotta, cream & parmesean/romano blend cheeses, and spinach (I just put one fresh spinach leaf in each one.)  I had enough cheese mixture left for another meal planned for this week.

I made my spaghetti sauce with italian sausage and hamburger. I made enough sauce for our dinner, and to make our other dinner this week, plus I have enought meat left to make another batch later. I am enjoying getting the hang of this planning and making meals ahead- it sure makes weeknights easier!
