Gratituesday- Prayer request

Today I am grateful for all the prayers I am about to ask for. Because even though I can not share specifics, and even though some of you don’t know me except through this blog, I KNOW you will pray for us, just beacause I am asking. And I am eternally grateful to GOD who hears those prayers, and will work everything out according to HIS will, and guide us through.

That being said- it is still difficult to not know the outcome of a situation, even though we KNOW GOD is in control.  My husband and I have had a couple of very stressful weeks, and now- when things were supposed to have been cleared up, we still don’t know what’s happening, and it is a confusing mess. Plus we got a new (although temporary) stress added to our shouders last night- and made for a very fitful rest last night.

Please pray that we will find peace in these situations, and that GOD will be there with us in the midst of whatever happens.

Gratituesday- Encouragement

Last night we had company for dinner. One of the newly installed elders and his wife came over to visit with us and we fixed dinner for them (more about what we had for dinner later!). I thoroughly enjoyed the time we got to visit and have fellowship with them. It was quite encouraging! But the most encouraging thing was that they came to talk to us about what our experience at the church has been since we’ve been there. It could not have come at a better time, as I was starting to get quite discouraged about church. I have struggled with the fact that I moved from a large church to a very small one that doesn’t have many other people/couples our age, and where it has been hard to find a place in the church. And lately I’ve had a lot of trouble with the preacher being stuck on only two subjects in his sermons, and neither subject applies to about 95% of the congregation. But that’s all wekept hearing -the same two messages- every week! I was beginning to feel like I didn’t want to go to church anymore. But then last night, the elder started asking us how we were doing, spiritually, how we were feeling we fit in, what could be done differently, etc. And they honestly listened to our answers and asked what they could pray for us about. And he told us about changes that are going to be made and addressed with the congregation. It gives me sooo much hope for whatever time we have left here, whether that be a few months, or more. I couldn’t have ask God for better timing, because it has helped me to grow being a part of what is going on in the church here, and has encouraged me to stay involved even when I get discouraged.

Gratituesday- The age of the Internet

Today, I am grateful for the internet age that we live in. I would not have had any idea that having my own website would be so easy (well, easier that in years past- it is taking some work to learn the stuff :-) ) But I mean- who would have thought that the internet would be such a wonderful tool in our lives that can keep us in touch with our family and friends; ”meet” new people who turn into friends- even if you never see them face-to-face; get you the latest news from around the world; be able to pay your bills, check your bank balance- or even order a pizza! It is an amazing tool, that I am so very thankful for.
